Position Title: Senior Analyst

Location: NE Portland, OR (The position is remote but the individual must be permanently located in North Eastern, OR)

Position Summary: As a Senior Analyst, you will lead outreach and engagement to recruit and support customers in pursuing energy efficiency projects for commercial and multifamily properties on a Program that extends throughout the state of Oregon.  Your work will be focused on supporting customers in the NE Oregon region, and you must be able to travel throughout your region to engage with your customers. You will work directly with building owners and managers, local municipalities, engineers, and others to execute on the successful implementation of efficiency program management services in support of program execution. Senior Analysts in this role will serve as a single point of contact for customers wishing to participate in the Program. This includes research and analysis to identify appropriate program candidates and engaging with those that are both familiar and unfamiliar with the Program. Senior Analysts conduct outreach with a goal to successfully enroll customers and projects into the energy efficiency Program offerings. Meeting with customers may take place via phone, email, and in-person events (pending Covid-19). Once enrolled, you will work directly with customers to support their journey through the Program. This includes identifying the most relevant entry point into the Program (i.e. standard, custom, business lighting, small business, etc.), and performing project management duties for ongoing projects until they have successfully completed.  Throughout the course of the day-to-day role, Senior Analysts may need to communicate the benefits in terms that resonate with that customer (financial metrics vs. energy metrics) to encourage stakeholders to move forward, identify project opportunities by performing site assessments, and conduct project verification inspections. Alongside your outreach role, you will be responsible for working with the client, building lasting relationships and working as team to achieve an overall goal. You will provide the team with market intelligence, updated technology, and trends all the while cultivating and maintaining relationships with key role players within the market.


In addition to successfully helping to deliver on the Program, you will work with Waypoint management and clients to expand our existing business lines over time. Primary responsibilities include conducting market research, analyzing data, and crafting project deliverables such as research reports and presentations. Other responsibilities will include developing proposal responses for new work and creating tools and resources for internal company use. The work is challenging and meaningful. Every day you will be working towards helping society better utilize its energy resources. A background in management consulting, project management, or an equivalent field is preferred for this role.  Direct experience working with utilities is preferred but not required.


This is an ideal job for someone with a long-term interest in understanding the inner workings of the commercial building and utility energy efficiency markets. The ideal candidate will also have a passion and capacity for working in an evolving, fast-paced, growth environment.



Client Delivery:

  • Work directly with customers to enroll energy efficiency projects

  • Work cross-functionally with various stakeholders to provide customers with a seamless journey through the energy efficiency Program

  • Communicate directly with external clients, customers, and partners daily by email and phone

  • Oversee day-to-day project management work, managing as many as 100+ projects

  • Meet in person with Waypoint’s clients and partners; this will include travel throughout the NE Oregon region

  • Actively cultivate and maintain relationships with clients

  • Conduct research on energy efficiency markets, building portfolios, and utility customers

  • Conduct basic data analysis and identify market trends

  • Draft deliverables in a range of formats, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Draft briefings and professional correspondence for review/circulation by management

  • Actively take management guidance and execute discrete project tasks

  • Assist management in attaining business development targets

  • Work with management to design key project methodologies and analytical approaches


Business Development:

  • Identify potential opportunities for expanding business with existing clients

  • Lead individual components of proposals

  • Assist management in development and execution of business development strategies



  • BA or BS degree and 2 - 5 years of relevant experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to self-motivate and work successfully in a remote environment

  • Have a valid U.S. driver’s license and a personal vehicle to visit contractor and customer sites

  • Aptitude to cultivate and participate in a healthy teamwork environment

  • Have experience with energy, utility, and/or commercial real estate market needs

  • Have advanced understanding of building components and energy efficiency measures

  • Have firm understanding of consulting skills/problem solving methodologies

  • Possess the ability to think strategically, design, and execute analysis and derive key findings with some help from Waypoint management

  • Strong analytical and Excel skills
