Going Green for St. Patrick’s Day!

Written by: Johnathon Fata

Here at Waypoint we enjoying celebrating in the green cheer of St. Patricks’ Day as much as anyone. And from green outfits to green behaviors, Waypoint is supportive of all green efforts. At Waypoint, “going green” means making choices that reduce our impact on the environment and the climate. To that end, Waypoint has taken concrete steps to ensure that we are operating in alignment those green behaviors in a number of ways. From facilitating commuter benefits programs to becoming a certified San Francisco Green Business, our commitment to reducing our impact runs deep throughout our company. Below is an overview of some of the impact-reducing initiatives we have taken at Waypoint.

  • Encouraging the use of alternative transportation to work: Waypoint encourages and facilitates travelling to work with alternative means of transportation for all of its team members. In order to help, Waypoint offers a commuter benefits program for all employees, allowing for pre-taxed income to be put towards riding public transportation. For our biking colleagues, we allow bikes inside and have a dedicated room for bike storage in our office. Our office is also centrally located in the north side of the financial district in San Francisco, which is easily accessible by foot, bus and Bart. Thanks to these efforts, 100% of team members commute to work using alternative means of transportation at least part time.

  • Achieving San Francisco Green Business certification: Waypoint received certification as a San Francisco Green business in 2014. The certification process and subsequent maintenance of SF Green Business standards includes steps such as purchasing all ENERGY STAR rated office equipment and appliances, using all recycled paper and reducing printing company-wide, and sorting waste into landfill, recycling, and compost, to comply with the City of San Francisco’s 100% waste diversion goal. Thanks to these efforts, Waypoint has been able to fulfill our obligations to the SF Green Business program and reduce our consumption and impact across the areas of energy, water, waste and pollution.

In addition to these steps internally, we also make a positive impact for our clients in the program work we do. Waypoint supports the reduction of energy consumption in all the services we provide to our commercial real estate, government and utility clients. We encourage our clients, partners and friends to join in these energy efficiency efforts and looks forward to continuing these on St. Patrick’s Day and beyond. Cheers to a safe and green St. Patrick’s Day.
